Creating Your Own Outdoor Retreat: Before and After of Our Backyard

Over the past few months we have been working hard to turn our backyard into our ideal hosting and relaxing spot. With the pandemic changing many of our summer plans, I know a lot of people have been looking to have a relaxing outdoor space at home. I wanted to share our adventure of transforming our outdoor space. Before we started working on the backyard, we had a small concrete patio. It wasn’t wide enough to fit a dining table and chairs which was really annoying when trying to host dinners. We also had wooden fences on three sides of our property and a chain link fence on the last.…

Home Ownership – the Good, the Bad and the Ugly

We bought our house almost 3 years ago and have absolutely loved making it our home. However, it hasn’t been without some surprises and “adulting” reality checks. Overall, we have loved living together and having a space to make our own. Here is what has surprised me most about home ownership so far – the good, the bad and the ugly! I also attached some photos of our house at the moment if you would like to see – I always love home tours of other peoples houses. The Endy Mattress

We weren’t looking for a new mattress, I thought ours was perfectly fine. The thought of mattress shopping was not high up on my “that sounds fun” list. But then my husbands parents asked us to pick out a mattress we liked for their guest bedroom since it would be us sleeping there the majority of the time. And so began the hunt for 1 mattress that ended with 3 purchased – one for their guest bedroom, one for us, and my sister-in-law even got in on the deal. After browsing and researching we found the Endy and didn’t look back! Here is some info on why we chose the…

Halt the Hangry Banana Bread Recipe

Want to know a secret? I never follow recipes. As long as I can remember, I have been making on the fly adjustments to baking recipes to make them less of a dessert and more of a snack. Why you ask? As a girl who is perpetually hungry (and hangry), a dessert-type bread or muffin is going to keep me full, functioning and pleasant for all of 20 minutes. Making it more substantial allows it to act as an actual snack that keeps me going for hours. So needless to say, this is not your mom’s banana bread recipe. Hot tip: A slice of this bread toasts up BEAUTIFULLY in…

    Plants Even I Can’t Kill

There once was a fiddle-leaf fig tree in my house… it is no longer. After bringing it home from Ikea, its leaves were one by one turning brown and falling off. I read somewhere that they like humidity, so in an attempt to revive it, I took it into the bathroom while I showered. When I put it back in its regular spot it went even more downhill, lost all of its leaves and died. I later read the worst thing for them is shocks in temperature or condition… whoopsies. Needless to say, I am not a plant whisperer and do not have a green thumb, but I do enjoying…
