Thrifting Parisian Style- Part 2: The Hunt and Gather

Picking up where we left off… after creating my list and inspo photos (from this post) I was off to thrift shop! Thrifting was so much fun, I’m officially a convert. It’s so exhilarating to find a diamond in the rough. Every time I find a winner I feel like I hit the jackpot, won the lottery, and all the stars aligned. The best part? I get that same thrill every time I put my new find on. If I couldn’t find something second hand, I tried to reutilize pieces that I already had in my closet. I did end up buying a couple of things online as well. Where…

Thrifting Parisian Style – Part 1 : The Inspo

If you saw my last post, you may remember I have been crushing haaarrrd on Parisian style. I am drawn to how the looks are timeless, yet interesting. French style has the best way of using contrast. They mix masculine and feminine, combine old and new, mix texture and pattern, and combine high end with low end. I wanted to collect some of the items I had been crushing on without having to spend a bazillion dollars. Luckily, the majority of the pieces I wanted to add to my wardrobe were classics or had a vintage vibe. I figured shopping thrift stores and second hand would be an awesome way…

    For Your Coffee Scrolling… September

Welcome to September! How the hell did we get here? While work will be crazy this month, I had a lovely long weekend in Kingston to celebrate my bro-in-law’s bday. I’m also looking forward to a girls weekend later in the month (all within our social bubble). I am loving this summer-fall weather with sunshine and a cool breeze. What are you looking forward to this month? I’d love to hear! Here is what I have been browsing with my morning coffee lately: My saved folder on Instagram is filling up with dreamy, romantic Parisian style (see top photo). I’ve been loving browsing Rouje, Jeanne Damas, Léna, Camille Yolaine and…

    Knix Underwear Review

Knix underwear, people- where have these been in my life for the past 15 years?! I guess it’s better late than never! I cannot recommend Knix Leakproof Underwear enough. You can tell that they were designed to fit a product gap. Created by women, for women. Designed out of the frustration with the status quo of period and leakproof options available. The star products in my opinion include the Dream Short and the Leakproof Underwear. While I have been using the leakproof underwear during my period, I should also mention that they equally intended for light bladder leakage. Apparently, postpartum bladder leaking is what inspired the founder Joanna to make…

The Only Bra I Will Ever Wear

My first attempt at a no-underwire bra was with a bralette. While it was fine for around the house, it did not provide enough “nipple smoothing” to be work appropriate. It had no padding, just a thin piece of fabric, so I also didn’t love the shape it created under clothes. Then I tried one with removable padding… fuck I hate removable boob pads. They never retain their shape, they get all folded and creased, and are a pain in the ass to wash. I flat out refuse to spend one more minute of my life trying to fit a boob pad back into a bra through a tiny ass…

Clearly Glasses – An Online Shopping Story

I had been wanting a new pair of glasses for quite a while. Since I wear glasses everyday at work and my run-in’s with uveitis had me avoiding contacts for months at a time, I was getting bored of my same old frames (even though I loved them). I was also interested to see if blue-light lenses would make a difference for me with the computer at work and at home. As luck would have it, during a FaceTime chat with my friend Claudia the other day, I complimented her on her glasses (see photos). They were so fun and cute! She told me that she got them online. Online?!…

A Quarantine Outfit Story – The Smash + Tess Romper

A PSA (Public Spencer Announcement) if you are not already aware… Smash + Tess rompers are seriously a game changer! I ordered my first S+T Romper at Christmas during their Black Friday sale. My first purchase was the Tuesday Romper in black… I then loved it so much I gifted myself the Friday Romper in Sienna (Sienna is not available at the moment but Chai is). Let me tell you, these 100% win as my best purchases of 2020 so far. Present Pandemic Spencer is currently thanking Past Spencer for the most timely purchase I have ever made. 2020 may forever be known as the year of loungewear. I have…

Work Pants that Won’t Cause a Morning Meltdown

In what has now become folklore in my family, let me tell you the infamous “pants” story… I was living with my sister in Kingston where she was doing her Masters and I was on clinical rotation at the hospital. She had just started dating (her now fiancé) Chris earlier that year. She had a small apartment with 1 double bed for us to share, where as Chris had a full house with a guest room… which living situation do you think we chose? That is how we both ended up essentially living at Chris’ for 6 weeks. One very early morning when we were all getting ready for our…
