    Day-to-Day: Emma Sawatzky

Day-to-Day is a series of interviews with women that I admire. I have found at this stage of life, friends are scattered around the province, country, and the world. It is so nice to use the power of the web to feel more connected to a group of women and create a sense of community. I love getting a better idea of what their day-to-day life looks like and what they are currently enjoying and doing. I am so happy that the first Day-to-Day interview is with Emma! Emma is a law student from Canada currently living in the UK. She is a world traveller (follow her on instagram for…

Yoga With Adriene Has Your Back

How is everyone feeling? With all that is going on with the COVID-19 outbreak, I wanted to share one of my favourite at home stress relievers – Yoga with Adriene videos on YouTube. Adriene’s videos have seen me through some tough times. When I was stressed studying for my licensing exams, I would go to the library all day, come home, have my daily “date” with Adriene, go to bed, then repeat it all the next day. Adriene’s video’s always felt like hanging out with a friend and were a bright spot in my day. Looking to do an awesome workout at home? Having trouble sleeping? Feeling stressed or anxious?…

Wedding Traditions We Skipped with Zero Regrets

When I was planning our wedding, I felt like two phrases carried a lot of weight. I can’t tell you how many times I read or heard “well you wouldn’t want to regret not having it or doing it” or “it’s only one day, might as well go all out”. I was really worried that in making our low-key relaxed wedding a reality, I was going to end up full of regret. However, in a turn of events that was surprising to no one, following what I actually wanted and leaving behind what I didn’t left me happy and with zero regrets. Break the rules, have whatever kind of wedding…

    For Your Coffee Scrolling…

Here is what I’ve been reading and watching with my morning coffee this week: Love this anxiety trick! Did you watch Brené Brown’s Netflix special? I did and found it so interesting and enlightening. This super helpful tinted moisturizer chart for finding your ideal product. You have to see the before and after photos of the Paris home! I love this post (make sure to read the comments section!) to renew my faith in humanity. At the grocery store this past weekend, my dad bought the groceries for the lady in front of us in line just to be nice. Love him. A phenomental gymnastics routine, and to Beyonce none…

    Plants Even I Can’t Kill

There once was a fiddle-leaf fig tree in my house… it is no longer. After bringing it home from Ikea, its leaves were one by one turning brown and falling off. I read somewhere that they like humidity, so in an attempt to revive it, I took it into the bathroom while I showered. When I put it back in its regular spot it went even more downhill, lost all of its leaves and died. I later read the worst thing for them is shocks in temperature or condition… whoopsies. Needless to say, I am not a plant whisperer and do not have a green thumb, but I do enjoying…

    The Platter Salad

When hosting the fam or friends for dinner, I always break out this salad. For some reason, making a well thought-out salad on a platter instead of a bowl makes it look so much more special! You can definitely apply the platter idea to any salad of your choosing. We’ve done caesar, california steak, and caprese as platter salads – the possibilities are endless! It’s also a great way of serving a “meal salad” since it magically makes a bunch of veggies, herbs, protein and crunchies of your choosing look like a composed dish. This particular salad, now known as “Spencer’s salad” in my family, is my go-to as a…

    For Your Coffee Scrolling…

Here is what I’m reading this week with my morning coffee. What articles or posts are you enjoying? This beautifully written article. My new favourite app! How did I not know about this?! This house tour makes me want to buy a can of black paint and have at ‘er! I love this interview with Shereene Idriss. I find it so interesting to see what a dermatologist’s beauty and skincare routine looks like. This cake sounds delightful, I can’t wait to make it. Fun to see what was in the second Jilly Box! I am already a huge fan of Knix underwear and Smash and Tess rompers. Such a great…

Work Pants that Won’t Cause a Morning Meltdown

In what has now become folklore in my family, let me tell you the infamous “pants” story… I was living with my sister in Kingston where she was doing her Masters and I was on clinical rotation at the hospital. She had just started dating (her now fiancé) Chris earlier that year. She had a small apartment with 1 double bed for us to share, where as Chris had a full house with a guest room… which living situation do you think we chose? That is how we both ended up essentially living at Chris’ for 6 weeks. One very early morning when we were all getting ready for our…

    Skincare Ingredients: A-Z

In an effort to step up my skincare routine as a big birthday begins to approach, *cough 30 *cough, I wanted to learn more about the key ingredients I should be looking for. The price point for skincare can range from reasonable to bat-sh!# crazy for products with very similar active ingredients. After doing some research, I noticed a pattern in the biggest “work horse” ingredients. I have broken down ingredients that are beneficial below and how I have incorporated them into my skincare routine. Hopefully this will be helpful if you are also looking to step up your skincare game! Here are some ingredients to look for: Vitamin A/…
