Clearly Glasses – An Online Shopping Story

I had been wanting a new pair of glasses for quite a while. Since I wear glasses everyday at work and my run-in’s with uveitis had me avoiding contacts for months at a time, I was getting bored of my same old frames (even though I loved them). I was also interested to see if blue-light lenses would make a difference for me with the computer at work and at home. As luck would have it, during a FaceTime chat with my friend Claudia the other day, I complimented her on her glasses (see photos). They were so fun and cute! She told me that she got them online. Online?!…

    My Current Skincare Routine

After a ton of research and some trial and error, I have finally nailed down my skincare routine. The products below have been my go-to for about 4 months now and I’m thrilled – my hormonal acne has not caused me any issues and my skin is more even in colour and texture. I keep my routine pretty simple and straightforward – no 13 step process for me! I also do my best to avoid buying products based on branding, but rather strip it back to what the actual ingredients are doing for my skin. This is just what I have found works for me. I wanted to share because…

    Wise Words on Anxiety

This week, my wonderful aunt sent my sister and I this resource, Psychological First Aid for Frontline Health Care Providers. I decided to take a quick peek, even though I didn’t really think I needed it. After all, I was “fine”! Holy man was I wrong. I did not realize how much I needed to go through the workbook – I suddenly felt understood and refreshed. The above resource helped me realize how important it is to prioritize my mental health. In addition to seeking out resources, I need to continue to exercise, eat well, and maintain meaningful relationships by reaching out to others. But the biggest thing of all…

    The Joy of Old Friends

With quarantine keeping us safe at home, I must say one of the best things to come out of it for me has been getting to chat more often to old friends. Where life typically makes it tough to match up schedules, most of us are suddenly left with a lot more free time at home. The pandemic has taught me the joy that can come with taking life a bit slower. I don’t have to always be so scheduled and busy. Having the time to Facetime and catch up has been the best. It has also made me realize that after this is all over, it is something I…

    The Endy Mattress

We weren’t looking for a new mattress, I thought ours was perfectly fine. The thought of mattress shopping was not high up on my “that sounds fun” list. But then my husbands parents asked us to pick out a mattress we liked for their guest bedroom since it would be us sleeping there the majority of the time. And so began the hunt for 1 mattress that ended with 3 purchased – one for their guest bedroom, one for us, and my sister-in-law even got in on the deal. After browsing and researching we found the Endy and didn’t look back! Here is some info on why we chose the…

    To Make You Smile…

I hope you have a great weekend. Here are some funny posts that I have shared with family and friends recently. I hope these give you as good of a laugh as they gave me! There is nothing like trying on a fancy dress with full on frizz hair – its quite a look! Why does this have to be so true? I keep having to remind myself that I am as old as my mom was when she was pregnant with my sister and I. Also can I mention the tragedy that red wine is suddenly giving me leg cramps – WT actual F The best use of a…

    An Ode to Siblings

National siblings day is April 10, and usually I don’t pay it much attention. However, with everything going on in the world and in my life at the moment, I have never been more thankful for my siblings. They know me better than I know myself, they know how I grew up, and they can commiserate with me about my parents quirks and family stories. They know what makes me laugh and what makes me mad (and exploit both). It is so funny to think how our relationships with our siblings can change over the years – from elementary school squabbles, to teenage drama, to suddenly in university finding myself…

Halt the Hangry Banana Bread Recipe

Want to know a secret? I never follow recipes. As long as I can remember, I have been making on the fly adjustments to baking recipes to make them less of a dessert and more of a snack. Why you ask? As a girl who is perpetually hungry (and hangry), a dessert-type bread or muffin is going to keep me full, functioning and pleasant for all of 20 minutes. Making it more substantial allows it to act as an actual snack that keeps me going for hours. So needless to say, this is not your mom’s banana bread recipe. Hot tip: A slice of this bread toasts up BEAUTIFULLY in…

How I Learned to Love Running

Running is definitely my favourite form of exercise, but it hasn’t always been this way… I used to dread going for runs.  I am not a naturally good runner; I am neither fast nor good at long distances. But it is by far the most accessible form of exercise. You can do it anywhere, in any city, and there is no class or membership fee. There are also so many physical and mental benefits to running – I always feel so much better after a run. Here is how I went from hating it to loving it and how I keep enjoying it. 1) Keep it fun: I don’t time…

For Your Sunday Morning Coffee Scrolling…

Here is what I have been enjoying watching/reading this week while sipping (ok chugging) my coffee. I have found that reading these articles has added some much needed normalcy with all the COVID updates and news. I hope these links brighten your day like they did mine! Have you seen this video where JoJo remixes “Leave (Get Out)” to “Chill (Stay In)” for COVID-19. My 2000’s self is just loving it! This cabin looks so beautiful and peaceful! Have you been following the Lizzy McGuire reboot news? This article explains a lot! I hope they do make it with “adult” themes. After all, Lizzy’s fans are adults now too. People…
